Root
A short film idea in development about a journey of self-destruction rooted from one’s obsession for outer-beauty and materialism. The protagonist's twisted values are polluted by the symbiotic flowers, ultimately taking away her life.

Character
Exploratory Sketches
I tried to encapsulate the two ends of the spectrum of the protagonist's physicality affected by the vines and flowers corroding her body and drives her insane.
Environments Exploratory Sketches
The protagonist is very self conscious of her appearance, hence mirrors are one of the core element in the scene in early idealisation progress. I also explored the imagery of vines trapping and suffocating the environment.

General Exploratory Sketches
First few pages of sketches I did while visualising the idea. The imagery of a giant flower poking out of a person's skull is one of the key visual inspiration to the idea. The goal of these sketches is to find the style and pushing the character forms to a more stylised approach for an animation short.

Concept Cover Illustration
In the cover illustration I wanted to show the duality of the film's protagonist, showing a side of her face before and after the influence of the parasitic flowers that have corrosively rooted the twisted values of beauty in her.
